The two gatherings belong to the Rare Persian Manuscript Division at the Library of Congress. The gatherings come from complete manuscripts that have been slated for digitization. The goal for this treatment is to stabilize the gatherings for handling, with the intention of eventually rebinding.

Treatment Overview: ​​

• Pages were dry cleaned with a soft brush and latex free polyurethane sponges. 

• The center fold of each gathering was guarded with pre-toned 5 gsm Tengujo paper and undiluted wheat starch paste.

• For areas in which copper ink was applied, the paper began to corrode and "sink through". These areas were reenforced with pre-toned 3.5 gsm Tengujo and 2% Klucel M in ethanol on both sides.
